Field Day 2022 - June 25/26 - Save the Day

Field Day 2022 is not far away
.  The current plan is to operate from the field at the Morse Pond School, as we did last year.  We will also operate from the communications trailer, as we did last year.

The tentative plan is to operate CW, phone, and GOTA stations.  In order to make this happen we need volunteers to fill the following positions:

CW Station Captain - Sets up CW station, recruits and manages operators

SSB Station Captain - Sets up SSB station, recruits and manages operators

GOTA Station Captain - Sets up GOTA station, recruits and manages operators

Field Setup/Teardown Coordinator - Recruits setup/teardown volunteers and supervises setup and teardown

Food/Beverage Coordinator - Purchases food/beverages, recruits volunteers to cook (Henry, K1WCC has volunteered for this position)

In addition, we need volunteers for the setup and teardown crews.

Field Day setup takes place on 25 June, with operation on 25-26 June, and teardown on 26 June.

Please contact me if you want to volunteer, or you have any questions concerning Field Day.

thanks,

Larry, W1IZZ

Hope to hear you on the air from a portable/mobile station.

Technician Licensee - Life Beyond Repeaters

The presentation at the December 16, 2021 meeting was  "Technicians, Life Beyond Repeaters", by Anthony Luscre, K8ZT.  It was an excellent review of all of the aspects of amateur radio open to Technician license holders.

If you missed the meeting, the presentation can be viewed at: https://vimeo.com/498167712 .  If you are a Technician license holder, it is worth viewing the presentation.

If you have questions about ham radio, or you need assistance with any aspect of ham radio, send an email to: Elmer@falara.org and a FARA member will answer.

The information on the "New Hams" page of the FARA website may also be helpful.

FARA Fest 2021

FARA Fest 2021 was great.  Table space was basically sold out.  The number of buyers was lower than in previous years, but sales were still good.

It was great to see people in person instead of via Zoom or talking over the radio.  If you missed the Fest, you missed a great opportunity to talk to other hams.

Hopefully, the Fest marks a beginning of a return to "normal" in terms of in-person meetings and radio related events.

Thanks to Ralph, N1YHS and the FARA members who assisted for another great FARA Fest.

1st Annual New England Parks On The Air event on Saturday, October 16, 2021

The K1USN Radio Club has announced the 1st Annual Autumn New England Parks On The Air event on Saturday, October 16, 2021 from 0000-2359 UTC. Activation will be from as many different POTAs as possible, either as activators or hunters.  The goal is to have one group/individual at each site to enable the activation of as many NE POTAs as possible.

BTW, this event is co-incidental with the 2021 Jamboree on the Air, and would give scouts an opportunity to either contact parks or operate from parks.

Please distribute this notice and information to as many of your club members as possible, PARTICULARLY THOSE THAT PARTICIPATE IN POTA.  More information can be found by clicking on this link:
